Flying In Your Dreams -

Download It and you will be giving money to the Alzheimer's Association

My grandfather died this summer from the disease called Alzheimer's.  I wrote this song Flying in Your Dreams in honor of him and his life.  I missed him so much as he started to slip away and most of us didn't understand what was happening.  He just wasn't the person he had been before.  Micheline, his wife, took care of him in her home until the last month, which is usually unheard of with Alzheimer's patients, it was what he wanted, he would have never wanted to be in a hospital.  As most Petite's tend to be, he was fiery and strong and fiercely independent.

  One dollar of every download of Flying In Your Dreams goes to support the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
Supporting Alzheimer's research is very crucial from a family, medical and economical perspective.   According to the Alzheimer's Association, "13 percent, or one in eight people, ages 65 and over have Alzheimer's," and "nearly half of persons over age 85 have Alzheimer's."  It is also believed that  a lot of Alzheimer's deaths go undiagnosed due to other ailments, so the statistics could be higher.

It is very expensive and difficult for families to take care of their loved ones who have Alzheimers.  And as the baby boomers start creeping up in age the numbers of Alzheimer's patients will also increase.  Besides putting a lot of stress on families, it also puts a lot of financial stress on the medicare system.

Preventive research, medical and treatment will be crucial in combating the increasing numbers of Alzheimer's patients.  Currently there are no medications to stop Alzheimers, but there are medications which will slow down the symptons a bit.

This is a disease that not only affects the person with Alzheimer's but affects the person's family and friends.  Dealing with a grandparent, brother, sister, husband, wife, father or mother who has Alzheimer's can be very difficult and heartbreaking.  It is like the person you once knew and loved is sometimes no longer there, only little signs of who they once were.  For family members it can be very stressful and costly.

For people who have read this page, thank you so much, it really means a lot to me.  Time goes by and we get so busy and sometimes it is just hard to let people know how much you care about them and then they are gone.  The lyrics for Flying in Your Dreams are below, the last month of my grandfather's life he was in the hospital and I took a lot of walks, and cried a lot, because it was very hard for me to know he was there, caged in like an animal.  they did a wonderful job taking care of him, if you knew him you would understand what I mean.  He didn't go willingly.

Flying In Your Dreams

I hope you still fly airplanes when you're dreaming,
These days you hardly talk whenever I'm around;
Push the throttle in and cruise on down the runway,
I hope you find your freedom as your lifting off the ground.

I hope you still love to fly,
Still love to try to break
The speed of light, the speed of sound,
Never touch down...
I hope you still go flying in your dreams.

I hope you still love chasing rainbows,
I remember what you told me when I was 8 years old;
You said "Little girl go chase your rainbow,
and maybe at the end you might find your pot of gold."

I hope you still love to fly,
Still love to try to break
The speed of light, the speed of sound,
Never touch down...
I hope you still go flying in your dreams.

If there's a heaven or a God,
I can't understand,
Why you'd break the mind and spirit of an able man.

I still recall the day we met her,
I could tell the way you loved her,
How you held her in your eyes;
In the end she held your hand as you were sleeping,
I've been digging through old memories,
It's hard to say goodbye.

I hope you still love to fly,
Still love to try to break
The speed of light, the speed of sound,
Nover touch down...
I hope you still go flying in your dreams.
